Course Description

All experience levels are welcome. In this fun, relaxed class, you will free your inner artist by learning to create in improvisational, playful ways! We will study African American Improvisational Quilts and African fabric to get inspiration for your mosaic. All materials will be provided for a small experimental project in the first class. After that, each student will be provided 4 substrates and can choose to create one unified mosaic in 4 pieces, or 4 separate artworks. More advanced students may choose to do their own project with individual guidance from the instructor and class participation.

Note: More advanced students may choose an independent project with prior approval from instructor.

Notes

Supplies: A $50 materials fee will be collected in class for mosaic substrates, mosaic materials, supplies, glues, grouts, gloves, masks, safety glasses and shared use of instructor’s tools and books. If the student would like to purchase additional materials or their own tools, a resource list is provided.
