Course Description

Grow your own organic produce! It is not too late-there is still time for a summer garden but don’t delay. Edible gardening is rewarding and good for your mind and body. If you have a few hours of extra time a week, you can grow and harvest an abundance of organic vegetables for your home table. You do not need a large yard. Growing in raised beds and containers make gardening easy and will be discussed. Other aspects of gardening will be covered in this class as well. Learn everything you need to know about vegetables, fruits, herbs and edible flowers. Learn the difference between a plant that is already growing from the nursery in a pot and starting your own seed and how to include both in your garden. You will learn what soil to purchase and all about fertilizers with a brief explanation of composting. We’ll guide you through which plants need a trellis and how much space each plant needs. Join us in the dirt to make great, healthy food!
