Course Description

Discover the history of wine with Certified Sommelier Dane Kuta. We’ll learn when wine was first made and how the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans made and enjoyed their wine. Fascinating stories guide us through the how, and why wine changed from the Middle Ages to the modern era. We’ll cover the emergence of different appellation systems of major wine-producing countries, review major worldwide events that impacted wine production, and taste grape varietals that have been grown since the Roman era.

Notes

Supplies: A $50 materials fee will be collected prior to the start of class. Please bring three wine glasses, pen and paper to each class. Six wine tastes per session. Textbook included.
