Course Description

Whether you are working in the U.S. or abroad, well-rounded medical training can be the difference between life and death. Many do not have the time to attend lengthy EMT or paramedic courses. This intensive six day course gives students the most important skills that military medics, EMT, paramedics and remote medical practioners use to provide emergency care in a variety of environments. This course focuses on serious wounds caused by gunshots, blasts, vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, and other life threatening injuries that may be encountered in a military, law enforcement or high-risk security environment. Advanced labs are available for students who already have TCC Provider certification and CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers certification. No prior medical training is required. Topics covered include: • Stopping severe bleeding • Emergency cricothyrotomy • Needle decompression • Medical emergencies & medications • Advanced tactical emergency casualty care • Basic and advanced airways • Wound packing • Motor vehicle accidents • Remote medical care • Emergency and nonemergency patient moves Upon completion of this course, students will receive a Certificate of Accomplishment from MiraCosta College, as well as a letter of completion from Secfor International, a CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers certification and Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) Provider certification.
